It has been a difficult start to the second round for Berekum Chelsea but they have the chance to restore some pride on Sunday in the Glo Premier League.
After an impressive victory away in their debut Caf Champions League campaign, the champions were humiliated in a 3-0 defeat to Aduana as they prepare for the Berekum derby against bottom side, Arsenal at the Golden City Park on match-day-17.
Asante Kotoko have a four-point lead at the top of the table and they host Liberty Professionals at the Baba Yara Stadium.
New signing, Michael Helegbe could make his Kotoko debut against his former side after a big transfer swap for Kumasi from the capital.
But Liberty coach, J.E. Sarpong says the pressure will be on their ex-captain to prove his worth to his new club.
“We will not allow him (Helegbe) to operate because we know him very well,” Sarpong said.
“The pressure is on Helegbe to convince his people that he is a good buy.”
Hearts of Oak will look to keep the pressure on the top as they play against relegation candidate, Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Wa All Stars could see their points rise further as they push to remain within the top four but they need to pick all the spoils at home when Aduana, who were in such strong form over Chelsea on Thursday visits.
Medeama following defeat to Kotoko travel to the Robert Mensah Stadium to face Ebusua Dwarfs and they will be bidding to respond as coach Bashir Hayford has demanded.
“I believe we’ll come out good against Dwarfs even though I admit it will be very difficult,” Hayford said.
“I have a team that hates to lose matches back-to-back and therefore I know they will fight for the three points in Cape Coast,” the Medeama coach said.
Tema Youth are 11th on the standings but a win against New Edubiase at the Gyamfi Park could see them climb to into the middle half of the table. Both sides were losers in their matches last weekend.
Finally, Wassaman take on AshantiGold at the Sekondi Stadium with both sides fresh from their opening wins in the second round.
