President John Mahama will next week, demonstrate his commitment to ending the power crisis currently faced by the nation, by touring the major power generating plants across the country.
President Mahama in his ‘State of the Nation’ address delivered in parliament last Thursday, made a passionate pledge to arrest the current power and water crisis facing the country.
He gave the assurance that the “erratic and frustrating” power crisis which give him “sleepless nights”, will be brought under control by April this year, based on the briefings he has had with managers of the sector.
Senior Policy Coordinator at the Presidency, Dr. Sulley Gariba Saturday disclosed on Joy FM’s News File programme which was also live on the Joy News channel on Multi TV, that President Mahama and some policy advisors will begin a three day tour of power generating plants, to gain firsthand account of the progress of works being done to guarantee uninterrupted supply to consumers.
The President is expected to begin his tour with a visit to the Takoradi Thermal plant on Monday, the Akosombo and Kpong Hydro-Electric Dam plants on Tuesday and then the Bui Hydro-Electric Dam on Wednesday.
Dr. Gariba said the government was determined to bring the crisis to a closure, hence the President’s resolve to ensure all those tasked with specific responsibilities, deliver on time.
