Proprietors of private basic schools have appealed to the government and district assemblies to reduce operational fees and taxes imposed on their operations. Nana Appiah Adabraka, National Financial Secretary of the Ghana Private Schools Association, who made the appeal, said the current huge operational fees charged by district assemblies, coupled with government taxes, were imposing a heavy burden on them. He was speaking at the Atwima-Mponua district branch of the association’s annual week celebration at Nyinahin. Nana Adabraka suggested the posting of national service personnel to private schools to teach. Mr Joseph Kessie, Secretary at the Atwima-Mponua branch of the association appealed to parents to pay their wards’ school fees promptly to enable the schools run effectively. Source: GNA
