The Brong Ahafo Regional Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Ltd, Lord Mike Tagoe, says there is need for intensified public education on waste management.
Speaking to the media after the 10th National Sanitation Day in the regional capital Sunyani, Lord Tagoe expressed satisfaction at the level of participation which he attributed to increased sensitization.
He explained that the sensitization and awareness creation will continue to ensure the sustainability of proper waste management in the region.

The National Sanitation Day exercise was instituted in November last year by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
The exercise takes place on the first Saturday of every month under the auspices of the ministry and is aimed at pushing an agenda for proper sanitation among the populace.
Each of the 10 Regions of Ghana takes turns in hosting the exercise with the Brong Ahafo Regional capital Sunyani hosting the 10th edition.
The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Collins Dauda expressed appreciation at the level of participation.
He particularly singled out persons with disabilities in the area for special commendation saying that they had demonstrated a true spirit of patriotism.
He urged the Chiefs and people of the Region to sustain the exercise and to take responsibility for their immediate surroundings.
Ahead of the exercise, about 10,000 waste bins, 200 long brooms,150 wheel barrows, 200 rakes, 200 wellington boots, 50 cutlasses, 100 shovels and 1,000 gloves was distributed to the districts in the region for the exercise and also any sanitation activities.
The Communications Manager, Robert Coleman also stated that Zoomlion Ghana Limited will massively support the next National Sanitation in Accra with logistics and called on the general public to support the initiative.
Robert Coleman also called on the need to sustain the National Sanitation Day programme, since its inception it has helped clear refuse in Ghana, he added.
Zoomlion has since the inception of the exercise been supporting with logistics, personnel and technical expertise.
