The Coolworld electrical retailing is fast growing as a major channel of PZ Cussons Ghana, says Charles Janney, Director of Corporate Affairs and Human Resource.
According to him, the joint venture between PZ and Haier of China, a global manufacturer of refrigerators and air-conditioners, is producing climate-specific products to suit the needs of the local market.
“This collaboration has actually targeted the West African market and it’s producing products that will withstand our rugged conditions here, and that is our trump card”, stated Mr. Janney.
He spoke to Luv Biz Report when PZ Cussons opened the 5th Coolworld Electrical Retail Store in Kumasi, to offer shoppers within the metropolis and environs a one-stop shop for quality electronics and appliance products.
The showroom displays plasma television sets, air conditioners, freezers, microwaves, washing machines, home appliances and gas cookers.
PZ is increasing the number of Coolworld showrooms across the country in line with the company’s retail expansion strategy.
Mr. Janney expects Kumasi to be one of the strongest retail stores because “we have a very vibrant business community here and the emerging middle class here is the type of class that will go for air-conditioners, the kitchen ware and flat screens. So we’re counting on that to draw people to our retail store”.
PZ Cussons produces four categories of products, including home care products, personal care range, nutrition and most recently, electrical appliances.
