The Queen-Mother of Gomoa-Brofoyedur, Nana Paare, has pledged a 10-year sponsorship package of one million cedis for the best female student in the Basic School Certificate Examination from the District to further their education.
Nana Paare, who is a retired educationist, announced the offer when she addressed female citizens of Gomoa-Kyiren after a clean up exercise as part of the activities marking the annual Mpontu Festival of the Chiefs and people of the town last Thursday.
She reminded them of the vital role education in community and national development and urged parents not to deny their female children education.
Nana Paare cited Ms Joyce Aidoo, the Gomoa District Chief Executive, herself and other well-educated female citizens in the area who had attained appreciable levels of education.
She advised the youth in the district, particularly the teenage girls pursuing various educational programmes, to do away with negative acts that could lead them astray and make their future 93unpleasant". Nana Esi Otwiwah, Queen-Mother of Gomoa-Kyiren, thanked Nana Paare for the package and said she would do everything possible to encourage school girls in the town to study hard to win the award.
Present at the function, which coincided with the launching of a 100,000,000-cedi educational endowment fund for the town was Nana Okotwer Bekoe, Gomoa-Adaahene.
