School children who cross the Kanda Highway to school are being scared away from attending classes. Last year, at least three of them were knocked down by speeding vehicles whilst they attempted to cross the road. The latest happened last month when a 10-year-old girl was hit and killed. Teachers at the Kanda Cluster of Schools are expressing worry about the situation. The school, cited behind the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation building serves communities including Kanda, Nima and Maamobi. Joy News’ Fiifi Koomson who visited the school reported the situation has led to poor class attendance. School authorities said parents are withdrawing their wards from the school at an alarming rate. Teachers believe the Road Safety Commission can help salvage the dwindling enrolment as well as save the lives of pupils of the school.
