The Volta regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Election Director has entreated his executives who have been appointed by government to heed to a decision by the party's National Executive Council (NEC) and relinquish their positions in the party.
Korsi Bodja said the decision by NEC must be respected by Volta regional executives "as signs of negligence and absolute shirk of responsibility begin to rear its ugly heads at the regional party secretariat, that was beaming with party activities."
He envisaged that the party might suffer an apathy due to "the current disposition of our regional executives" judging from the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) experience in the 2016 elections.
Mr Bodja, therefore, advised that the party should not be complacent after wrestling power from a stiff opposition but must work towards winning over more sympathisers in the region.
He believes this will enhance achieve the agenda 3/30, thus winning 3 parliamentary seats and polling 30% of total votes in the Volta Region.
"We must engage party loyalists, polling station and constituency executives and all those who matter, for the collective good and make the party more attractive in the region", he said.
In this regard, Mr Bodja stressed that regional executives who are offered appointments in government must relinquish their party positions for constitutionally mandate party executives or appointees to step in to reignite party activities in the region.
He commended the party's National Youth Organiser, Sammy Awuku and other regional executives who turned down government appointment.
"The fact that we need competent hands in government does not mean the party should be left at the mercy of our opponents who are ready to bounce back to power within the shortest time," he added.
