The Rotary Club of Ho has raised GH₵100,000.00 to support the transformation of the Kpando Health Center in the Kpando Municipality of the Volta Region into a Polyclinic to enhance service delivery.
This initiative demonstrates the club's commitment to improving the well-being of the residents in the community by ensuring access to comprehensive healthcare services.
It consists of renovating the entire health center structure, providing equipment for basic healthcare, and equipping the maternity unit to improve maternal care and reduce mortality.
Speaking at a Presidential Ball and Fund-Raising Dinner at Volta Serene Hotel in Ho, the President of the Rotary Club of Ho, Dr. Alphonse Makafui Dzakpasu, emphasized the urgency of upgrading the Kpando Health Center.
He said the area needed to have additional health facilities hence their initiative to transform the healthcare landscape of the town and reduce the burden on the Margret Marquart Catholic Hospital.
"The population of Kpando has been steadily increasing, and our healthcare infrastructure must keep pace with this growth.
"Currently, the Margret Marquart Hospital bears the brunt of the healthcare needs of the town. By upgrading the Kpando Health Center into a polyclinic, we can distribute the burden more effectively and provide timely medical attention to the community members”, he said.
Akpinifiaga, Togbui Dagadu IX, was elated about the initiative and pledged his support to ensure the completion of the project.
He indicated that the initiative aligns with his vision and agenda to ensure that the healthcare needs of his people in the Kpando Traditional Area are met.
"It has always been my dream to see the people of Kpando receive quality healthcare services. The Rotary Club of Ho's initiative to upgrade our health center to a polyclinic is a step in the right direction. I am fully committed to this project, and I believe it will greatly benefit our community”, he said.
