Hope Kpodo, who stole and allegedly drove away a Hyundai Mini bus from Second Low Cost, a suburb in Aflao, on August 25, has a mental problem, a Police source in Aflao has told the GNA.The Police source said Kpodo, 35, who crashed the vehicle and was admitted at the Aflao Hospital became paralyzed and slipped into coma.Until his mental state deteriorated Kpodo, was said to be a commercial driver who plied between Aflao and Accra.Kpodo’s condition has necessitated a relaxation of the 24- hour police guard around him, the source said.Mr Emmanuel Odonkor, Aflao District Police Commander said at about 0200hours on August 25 this year, Kpodo slipped behind the steering wheel of the Hyundai bus whose driver had left its key in the ignition while out to assist a passenger.Mr Odonkor said the driver, Richard Klugah arrived just when Kpodo was driving the vehicle with registration number GS 4486-10 away, fully loaded with imported goods.He said with the assistance of some motor taxi operators (Okada), Klugah managed to chase the bus.Mr Odonkor said Kpodo drove past a police barrier at Agorko at top speed and ran into a pothole at Agavedzi, lost control of the vehicle and crashed the vehicle.
