For Sellas Tetteh, it is semi-finals or nothing.
That's Ghana's target for the impending Under 20 World Cup.
The Black Satellites coach has set the last four as the minimum target the tournament that starts May 30 in New Zealand. But he will have to contend with Argentina, Panama and Austria at the group stage.
"My initial target is to be in the semi final then after that we see what happens," Tetteh tells Joy Sports.
"That is our target, but not the ultimate," said the man who has won gold and bronze in his last two attempts.
The former assistant Black Stars trainer was speaking from New South Wales after Wednesday's 1-0 loss to Portugal, which was the team's final trial match.
Tetteh has led the team through months and he insists the readiness regime is almost complete. "We are almost 80 percent ready for the mundial and that is good news but we have to at least manage till we get the best from the squad."
"At the moment the conditioning of the players is quite appreciable. They are close to hitting top form,"
The Black Satellites are three-time African champions, having previously won in 1995, 1999, and 2009 as well as two-time runners-up at the World Youth Championships - 1993, 2001.
Ghana also finished third in 2013.
The 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup will be the twentieth edition of the U-20 World Cup since its inception in 1977 as the FIFA World Youth Championship.
The competition will take place for the first time in New Zealand, the third time on Oceanian soil after Australia staged the 1981 and 1993 editions.
