Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has waded into politics by criticising the appointment of Ibrahim Gambari as President Muhammadu Buhari’s new chief of staff.
Mr Gambari is a retired diplomat who previously served in Mr Buhari's military government in the 1980s.
He replaces Abba Kyari, who died last month from coronavirus.
Many people have objected his appointment basing their argument on the fact that he is 75-years-old.
Yemi’s tweet reflects one of them.
75 years old as chief of Staff. God save Nigeria.

People have tweeted their support for her sentiment, but others suggested that Yemi Alade should have looked at his experience and not focused on his age:
Again she gleefully displays her ignorance😩 https://t.co/vr7Q66cRwa pic.twitter.com/hnrM5hyg7m

When you become president (and i hope that happens in my life time) you can appoint your preferred age.
I think we focus on irrelevances in this part of the world and cast spotlight on any-hu.
Age or gender is not a credential. Old or young, male or female, anyone can deliever— I am TCP Whyte (M.ED) (@whyteworld_ng) May 13, 2020
"We also need young minds...I never said old minds are irrelevant," she later responded.
