GLICO Group has honoured their promise to pay the Black Stars GHC 1,000 for each winning goal and GHC 1,200 for every goal scored during the medal zone matches of the 2015 AFCON which was played in Equatorial Guinea earlier this year.
A cheque of GHC 11,700.00 was presented by Ms. Nana Efua Rockson, Deputy manager for Corporate Affairs(Glico Group) to the Ghana Football Association on Wednesday.
In her presentation speech, Ms Rockson indicated that due to the team’s sterling performance at the tournament, GLICO has decided to add an extra 5,000 to the GHC 2,000 and GHC 7,200 that the team will earn for their two winning goals at the group stage and the six goals in the medal zone matches respectively.
“GLICO is here to assure the Ghana Football Association and the Black Stars that we are with them all the way in the next AFCON and World Cup tournaments; providing them with necessary cushion to motivate them to win laurels for our dear nation Ghana”, she stated at the ceremony held at the GFA secretariat.
On his part, GFA General Secretary expressed gratitude to GLICO and urged them to consider coming on board as the official insurance sponsors of the GFA and all the national teams.
Black Stars management Committee Mr. George Afriyie who led the team to place second in the 2015 AFCON, also thanked GLICO for their support for the team over the years and called for more support as the team prepares for the tasks ahead.
