The Black Stars are determined to end the year on the high as they line up later today against Saudi Arabia in Dubai.
Ghana play the multiple Asian champions in a friendly fixture that holds horror memories for many members of the present squad who were all part of the Black Stars team that was mauled 0-6 in an earlier friendly against the Saudis in the build up to the 2008 Nations Cup.
Stand-in coach Kwesi Appiah is confident Ghana will fare much better this time and he has kept a consistent theme through the squad that he named for the game.
AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is available again after missing the Nations Cup draw at home against Sudan while the in-form Asamoah Gyan is also available for the friendly even though he will be suspended for Ghana’s next competitive game against Congo away from home in March.
Another player back in the fold is Quincy Owusu-Abeyie who could be hoping that a good showing in Dubai will help his long term prospects in the team again.
But it is the presence of former number one goalkeeper Sammy Adjei which was the biggest news from the squad. He may well make his first appearance for Ghana in two years.
The crucial thing for the Black Stars later today though, will be to prove to their fans that they still have the bite that looked to badly desert them for the qualifier against Sudan recently.
