A 22-year-old student is in critical condition after he was allegedly beaten up by three police officers in the Eastern Region.
Samson Ayittey was transferred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital following the deterioration of his health.
He was allegedly assaulted by the officers for riding a commercial motor bike.
The father of the victim, Charles Biney, narrating what happened to Joy News, said his son called to inform him he was not feeling well. Charles said his son then sought permission from school and set off but never reached home.
Around midday on the day Samson was supposed to get home, Mr Biney said he got a call informing him the police were beating up his son.
Upon reaching the police station, Charles said he saw his son lying on the floor with blood oozing out of his mouth and nose. He was asked by the police to send the boy to a hospital and bring him to court the next day, the father who was shocked at the insensitivity exhibited by the policemen, recounted.
Meanwhile the Manager of the Presbyterian Hospital in Donkorkrom, Kwaku Fianko-Gyan, confirmed treating the student at the hospital but the Deputy Eastern Police Commander, ACP James Abass Abaah insists the report is a fabrication and not the full representation of what took place.
