Six people have been arrested by the Tamale police in connection with the violence that erupted at Bamvim Dohenayili last Sunday.
They include the two personalities claiming the chieftaincy title for the area, Haruna Abu and Yahaya Manguli who will be arraigned before court soon.
The Tamale Metropolitan Police Commander, DSP Foli Washington, confirming this to Times hinted that every formality has been completed to put them before court.
Mohammed Amin Adam, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive who inspected extent of destructions at the community where the violence took place, warned that the Metropolitan Security Committee (MESEC) would not sit by and allow people to disturb the peace in the area.
He regretted that instead of concentrating on how to help reduce poverty in Tamale some people were rather wasting their energies on activities that would drain the scarce resources of the community.
Mr Amin said that he is always disturbed when he hears that people of the metropolis are engaged in violence because this tarnishes the image of Tamale and scares potential investors from coming to the area.
He implored all residents to use dialogue and the right channels in place to resolve their differences rather than resorting to violence which aggravates the problem.
Tension had been rising in the Bamvim area following the installation of two individuals, Haruna Abu and Hahaya Manguli as sub-chiefs in the community by two different chiefs, the Bamwim Lana and Sagnari-Naa.
This led to the burning down of four houses in the Bamvim Dohenayili community during hostilities that ensued between the two rival factions over a parcel of land.
