The Sunyani Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Kwabena Gyeabour has urged teachers to be abreast with labour laws to avoid being misled on labour issues.
He expressed concern about the lack of information among teachers and advised them to acquire knowledge through information communication technology.
Mr. Gyeabour gave the advice at the opening of a four-day workshop on public relations, organized by the Brong-Ahafo Regional Branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), for its newly recruited senior staff, in Sunyani.
"As members of a responsible labour organization like the GNAT, there is the need for teachers to acquire enough knowledge about labour laws to help in the fight for your rights."
Mr. Collins Obeng Boahen, the Regional Vice Chairman of GNAT, explained that communication was now an indispensable tool for the enhancing management practices of every organization, especially in public relations and said the practice required frank communication, integration, adequate budget, cooperation and effective technicalities.
Mr. Boahen appealed to the various branches of GNAT to use the mass media in propagating polices and programmes of the association, and to enable them influence public opinion on issues concerning teachers.
