It was reported that Coach Hebert Addo in an interview on BBC noted that he was optimistic Ghana will win the CHAN tournament if fair officiating and good weather are guaranteed.
According to him, even though he granted an interview to the BBC, he denied ever stating that as an excuse to parry blame that might be directed at him should the Black Stars fail to win the tournament.
In a related development, the assistant coach of the team Nurudeen Amadu also denied reports quoting him as saying: “Failure to reach the final of this month’s CHAN tournament in Sudan will be criminal”.
He noted that he was misquoted by the Standard newspaper. According to him what he actually said was that it would be unfortunate for them to lose the CHAN tournament considering the team's preparations prior to the tournament.
The local Black Stars left Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday after a two-week training camp to Sudan where the tournament is scheduled to take place this month.
