Tech needs Girls, IT4Teens and the Street Library Academy have each received five laptops from Tigo to enable them reach out to more children in deprived communities.

The three include Regina Agyare of ‘Tech needs Girls’, who teaches young girls coding and building websites; Erasmus Ackon and Marian Ewurama Wiredu, IT4Teens – together they teach young people in Takoradi both computer hardware and software applications; and Hayford Siaw of Street Library Academy, a library on wheels that moves around rural communities with books for children to read.

Presenting the laptops at a short ceremony in Accra, the Head of Corporate Responsibility and Communications for Tigo, Gifty Bingley, said the donation is in line with Tigo’s vision of creating a digital lifestyle experience for Ghanaians.

She explained digital technology does not only provide learners in rural communities with access to the latest technology, but it offers social entrepreneurs an opportunity to develop solutions to improve living standards.

She added that the company is committed to supporting initiatives that will improve people’s lives especially the youth.

All three beneficiaries are also past winners of the Tigo Reach for Change Social Entrepreneurs. Together they are reaching out to support children in deprived communities.
