Yusifu Ibrahim, a 35-year-old motor rider met his untimely death on Tuesday morning when a Tema-Accra bound train crushed and killed him instantly at the Sakumono railway crossing.
The deceased’s mutilated body was dragged on the rail line, about 50 meters from the spot he was hit, leading to the scattering of his mortal remains on the rails.
Eye witnesses told the media at the scene that at about 0630 hours, the train approached the Sakumono level crossing from Tema heading towards Accra.
According to the eyewitnesses, as was the practice, the traffic warden at the level crossing raised his red flag to alert and stop vehicles, for the train to pass.
Ibrahim, who was then riding a motor-bike from the Sakumono village to join the Tema-Nungua road, ignored the signal and rode onto the rail line, while all other vehicles stopped for the train to pass.
The train instantly crushed and killed him.
The accident attracted a large crowd, including the wife of the deceased, who collapsed upon seeing the scattered body of her husband.
Police at the scene collected the mutilated body into a polythene bag and sent it to the Police Hospital morgue.
