A woman who was advised by her doctor to transfer her premature triplets to the Ridge Hospital for better care says she has regretted the decision.
The woman, name withheld, gave birth through Caesarian session at the Dangba Hospital at Dodowa in the Dangme West District of the Greater Accra region.
She told Joy News the doctor advised her that the babies could be properly catered for at the Ridge Hospital in the capital, but later events proved otherwise.
She said she had a call from her doctor informing her about the death of one of the children, only for the other two to follow later.
She said she is gravely devastated at the death of all three babies five days after they were transferred.
The bodies of the triplets have been handed over to her for burial.
This comes only days after authorities of the hospital complained about poor conditions and lack of certain critical facilities.
Though there are only four functional incubators with a ratio of 4:1, officials describe what happened as an extreme case of prematurity.
The administrator of the hospital, Kwame Opoku told Joy News the hospital is always under pressure as a result of incessant transfers of patients from several private hospitals to the Ridge Hospital.
He explained however that under extreme prematurity, the triplets couldn’t have survived.
