A parliamentary hopeful of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bryan Acheampong has vowed to resist any attempt by the party executives to impose a parliamentary candidate on the constituency.
The party has tried three unsuccessful times to elect a parliamentary candidate for the Suhum constituency. The position is being vied for by the sitting Member of Parliament for the area, Mr. Frederick Opare Ansah and Mr. Bryan Acheampong.
The National Executives of the NPP have resolved to nominate one of the two to contest on NPP’s ticket for the December parliamentary election.
However, before the executives’ decision is made known and public, Mr. Acheampong said nothing would appease him if the party fails to organize a fourth primary.
Mr. Bryan Acheampong told Joy News that he is not ready to step down for the incumbent.
He said for a month now, he has been waiting for the party to call for another primary; and for the party to just say it will appoint one of them to represent the constituency due to the time constraint, that is no excuse.
“I don’t think it is the best choice for the people of Suhum,” he said.
