Two women have been shot in Alavanyo by assailants Joy News has learnt.
It is not clear yet if the shooting incident is linked to a protracted land dispute between the Alavanyo and Nkonya people in the Volta region.
The two injured women have been rushed to the Hohoe hospital, Volta Regional Minister Helen Ntoso has confirmed to Joy News.
One of the victims said she saw a man in military uniform just before she was shot.
The incident which happened Wednesday night brings to five the number of shooting incidents recorded in the area with the recent one being the shooting of a sixty year old farmer.
The regional minister said even the chiefs are confused about the source of the aggression because both parties have denied being behind recent attacks in the area.

In January 2015, Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur travelled to the region to warn the people of Alavanyo and Nkonya that their violence will no longer be tolerated.

The two communities have been involved in a bloody conflict over a disputed land for decades.
In December last year, there were renewed clashes following gunshots that left one person dead.
The violence in the two communities has persisted for years despite several mediation attempts by Governments, religious leaders and other groups.
