The University of Ghana on Tuesday named its newly constructed faculty of law building after the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills and Professor Akua Kuenyehia .
The two, who were both law Professors, were honored for their contribution to the growth of the faculty.
Prof Ernest Ayeetey, Vice Chancellor of the University, in an address at the naming ceremony, said the honor was also in recognition of the role of the two renowned Professors in the construction of the building.
He said the Late President Mills was not only instrumental in securing part of the initial funding for the construction of the new building, but also facilitated the building process and procured a stand-by generator and an elevator for the building.
He explained that the actual construction process began during the tenure of Prof Kuenyehia as the Dean and therefore she was also being credited with the vision of starting the new Faculty of Law building.
According to the Vice Chancellor, she successfully sourced for additional funds from local and from overseas sources to ensure the completion of the project.
He said the new building which has modern teaching and learning space and facilities, would enhance the academic work of both students and lecturers to ensure better results.
A plaque bearing the names to the two Professors was unveiled.
