Agitated members of the Coalition of Bonded Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Coalition of None Posted Nurses who completed their training last year without employment say they doubt new assurance given them by government.
They have therefore threatened to take government to court if it fails to address their concerns.
The threat was issued when one of the groups embarked on a demonstration from Kwame Nkrumah Circle to the Old Polo Ground in Accra to drum home their grievances to compel government to enlist them in the Ghana Health Service.
However, the Coalition of None Posted Nurses who were not part of the demonstration but picketing at the Ministry of Health quickly joined the demonstration when they heard the Minister was going to meet the other group.
After waiting for some hours the Acting Chief Director of the Health Ministry, Dr Afisa Zakariah came to address them and receive their petitions on behalf of the sector Minister, Dr Victor Bampoh.
The aggrieved Bonded Graduate Unemployed Nurses finished their training two and a half years ago and expected to be absorbed by the Ministry after their training but their names were omitted during the process. They claim some of their colleagues got clearance from the bond while others received postings.
They felt discriminated against which sparked the agitation.
In an interview, the president of the Coalition of the Bonded Nurses, Mr Bless Ackah said the trainees were made to sign a bond that restricted them from seeking employment elsewhere apart from the Ministry of Health that has got them stranded.
According to him, they have been waiting for the past two years without any job and that has made life extremely unbearable for them.
