One person died on the spot and another at the hospital after a fatal accident when a KIA truck had a head on collision with another vehicle near the Winneba junction in the Central region Saturday night.
The accident occurred around 8pm during a rainstorm that hit most parts of the Greater Accra and Central regions.
It is not clear what caused the accident but many suspect it was a result of poor visibility.
An eyewitness, Ernest Gyimah Danquah told Joy News the driver of the KIA truck was trapped for several minutes before he was finally rescued.
Police Commander in charge of the Winneba Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), ASP John Paul Akonde who was at the scene also told Joy News the death toll could rise.
“We’ve been able to rescue some of them,” he said, adding, “We’ve seen one person who is already dead … we hear the number that rushed to that side and the car fell on them is more and we can’t see any of them around.”
