Police in Worawora in the Volta Region have arrested a teacher for allegedly killing his colleague.
According to the police, Norbert Yaw Perby claims to have accidentally fired at the deceased whilst testing a new gun.
The Worawora Police Commander ASP Michael Asiedu said the incident happened when one teacher acquired a rifle and went to show it to his colleagues.
While the rifle was being examined, another teacher said he had some ammunition in his house and proceeded to bring the ammunition.
ASP Asiedu said the rifle was loaded and one of the teachers fired at the other who was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital on arrival.
The police officer said the police will be seeking to establish whether the suspect’s action was premeditated or a genuine accident.
ASP Michael Asiedu told Joy News they hope to complete the investigations today and formally press charges against the suspect.
