Authorities in Wa have tasked residents there to expose their relatives who are engaged in armed robbery as a means to curb the menace in the municipality.Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Duogu Yakubu, who made the call, said the municipality is seeing an upsurge in armed robbery cases in recent times.Speaking at the second ordinary session of the Wa Municipal Assembly in Wa, Duogu Yakubu said, “There is an upsurge of armed robbery and attacks on peace loving people in the municipality. One incident that nearly brought the name of the municipality into disrepute was the one involving some Peace Corps volunteers. These armed robbers are not strangers to us; they are our kith and kin who have chosen to live by the gun.”He added that, “Even though [security agencies] have put in measures to curb these attacks, they will be effective if we provide them with timely information on these criminals. I wish therefore to call on members to cooperate with the security agencies by assisting them with information that will lead to the apprehension of these criminals.”
