The ¢5.8 billion Small Towns Water project at Foase and Jachie-Pramso in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district is nearing completion, Mr Thomas Peprah-Manu, the Project Manager has said.
He said the project which is supposed to be completed at the end of this month involves the construction of water tanks, standpipes and boreholes fixed with pumps. It is being funded by the government and the International Development Agency. The Project-Manager disclosed this when Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister inspected the projects as part of his visit to the district on Tuesday. The Minister is touring the various districts in the region to have first hand information on government projects and also interact with the chiefs and people on their problems and see how best they could be addressed to enhance the proper development of the people and the nation at large.Mr Owusu-Ansah expressed satisfaction about the progress of work and hoped that the project would be completed as scheduled to solve the perennial water problem of the people.Addressing the chiefs and people at separate durbars organized in his honour, he told the people that the government was committed to the welfare and development of the deprived rural communities and it would do all that it could to bring them at par to the urban areas. He urged them to appreciate government efforts aimed at improving the lives of all Ghanaians and support it at all levels.Mr Owusu-Ansah appealed to the people to support the education of their children especially, the girls so that they could play their expected roles in the society. He also stressed the need for those who have not as yet registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme to do so without hesitation because it would be in their own interest to have free and quality medical treatment when they and their dependants fall sick.Mr Bright Addai Mununkum, the District Chief Executive (DCE) said, it is during this era that Ghanaians were enjoying real democracy and that the people must really cherish it instead of abusing it.Source: GNA
