Wayne Rooney will travel to Switzerland on Monday for England's Euro 2012 qualifier despite allegations about his private life. When asked if Rooney would be travelling to Basle, the FA said the whole squad will fly out for Tuesday's group C match. Rooney trained with the squad on Sunday, England midfielder James Milner confirmed at a news conference. The striker played a starring role in England's 4-0 win over Bulgaria. The stories appeared in two papers, the News of the World and Sunday Mirror. After his disappointing displays during England's dismal World Cup this summer, Rooney provided much of his team's creative spark against the Bulgarians at Wembley. And Milner said Rooney was a top professional who would be concentrating on matters on the pitch. The Manchester City star said: "He's a top player, he showed it on Friday and trained fully today [Sunday]. "I'm sure he'll continue to do that. Things are always said in the newspapers. It is part and parcel of football and down to us to make sure the only thing that matters is what happens on the pitch. "We're here to win a football match and we trained as a squad." He said it was important the team were not affected by personal matters adding: "You have highs, you have lows, and it's down to us to make sure only thing that matters is on the field, come together and make sure we get the result." The 24-year-old Manchester United man ended a five-month goal drought in his club's 3-0 Premier League win over West Ham last week. And although he did not find the net at Wembley he revelled in the free role which Capello afforded him, instigating the attacks which led to Jermain Defoe's hat-trick and also having a hand in Adam Johnson's goal. Tottenham striker Peter Crouch was ruled out of both matches this week because of a back problem, while Bobby Zamora also dropped out with an injury. West Ham's Carlton Cole or Sunderland's Darren Bent - both relatively inexperienced at international level - are in the squad. Italian Capello will definitely have to do without Tottenham's Michael Dawson in the heart of his defence, with West Ham's Matthew Upson, Everton's Phil Jagielka or Bolton's Gary Cahill all possibilities to fill the breach.
