Webster University Ghana over the past five years has solidified its spot as a lead in sparking thought-provoking conversations that intellectually engage the public, through their signature Public Lecture and Masterclass series.
Their first Business Masterclass of 2020 will come off on January 30th at the Ghana campus, under the theme “Homegrown: Establishing Market Success for Local Foods and Made-in-Ghana Products”. This free event is open to all.

The conversation on citizens needing to create quality made-in-Ghana products for the market ages is decades old, as far back as Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s regime, and continues to be a prominent issue in modern times.
The end of 2019 saw the “Eat Ghana Rice” campaign in full swing, receiving support from the media, the government, and Ghanaians but despite the growing number of Ghana-made brands in various industries including agriculture, food, fashion, skincare, etc., Ghanaians sill flock to foreign brands.
This prevalent attitude questions the market success of Ghana-made products both domestically and internationally. How do we end our insatiable taste for foreign brands? Are our products just not up to scratch? Often selling at higher prices, how can local producers help customers find value in their Ghana-made products? How do Ghanaian entrepreneurs capitalize on homegrown assets and successfully permeate the international market?
This Masterclass will discuss how you as an aspiring, new or established business owner can build a coveted brand and market your products; how the government, associations, and citizens can support made-in-Ghana producers; and what it takes to capture the domestic market to compete internationally.
Attend to learn best market practices from renowned Ghanaian chocolatier, Edmund Poku of Niche Chocolate, respected agri-business policy advisor, Nana Ama Aning Oppong-Duah and US-based visiting Walker School of Business and Technology faculty Prof. Heather Gordon, who is currently teaching at Webster's Ghana campus.
