Mr Sulley Abudu Zakaria, West Mamprusi District Chief Executive (DCE), has presented six tractors to farmers in the area on high purchase to help them increase food production towards poverty reduction.
Four water pumps had also been distributed to farmers under the same terms to cultivate some 200 hectares of Maize in the Kparipiri and Suhuluya areas under dry season farming.
Mr Zakaria, who made the presentation in Walewale on Tuesday, named the beneficiary communities as Selinvoya, Boamasa, Mashio, Bulbiya, Zua and Nasia.
He said officials from the District office of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture had registered some 3,098 farmers for consideration for assistance to enable them cultivate food crops while about 450 farmers in eight communities are being assisted with seeds and tractor services to cultivate "jatropha" plants.
Mr Zakaria appealed to the farmers to make judicious use of the equipments to ensure that Government's effort at fighting poverty through agriculture was achieved.
He assured that government would do everything possible to provide them with their developmental needs.
The DCE appealed to the people to ensure peace and security and support government to carry out its "Better Ghana" agenda.
He presented relief items for distribution to 152 persons whose houses were burnt in Nakpaya early last month, appealling to the people to remain calm since the matter was being investigated.
The items included maize, cow pea, millet, rice, plastic buckets, mats, T-shirts and roofing sheets.
