A 45-year woman who allegedly hacked to death a farmer from whose farm she had gone to steal has appeared before the Nkawie Circuit Court.
The plea of Yaa Kyeremaa was not taken and was ordered to be held in prison custody to make her next court appearance on March 12.
The incident happened at Asakaraka, a farming community in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District on January 30.
The deceased, Kwaku Amoako, 30, had confronted the accused and demanded an explanation for stealing some sugarcane from his farm.
Police Chief Inspector Charles Ato Hayford told the court presided over by Mr William Boampong that this resulted in a quarrel and some neighbours intervened to calm down tempers.
Amoako later decided to return to his farmstead not far from Asakaraka, when the accused armed with a machete chased until she caught up with him, slashed him in the head as he dropped to the ground and bled to death.
Kyeremaa fled after the crime but the police acting on a tip off arrested her from her hideout four days on.
The body of the deceased had been deposited at a Toase mortuary for autopsy.
