First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo has encouraged young women undergoing training in electronics at the Pentecost Vocational Training Institute (PVTI) to be resolute in their chosen profession.

She advised them not to waiver in their quest to acquire the skills in the area largely dominated by men.

Addressing the Open Day graduation of female students in Electronics at the Institute Monday, Mrs Akufo-Addo told them to aim at distinguishing themselves from their male counterparts.

President Akufo-Addo's wife entreated the students to be creative in the field being mindful of the importance of electronics in Ghana's development.

The “Female Professionals in Electronics” project is an initiative designed to provide girls with the needed skills to fully participate in the labour market and to be financially independent.

The project is funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), German Development Agency and Samsung.

It provides holistic training for girls, comprising theoretical and intense practical competency-based trainings, with work place experience.

Mrs Akufo-Addo commended the trio for their partnership that has seen the training of some Ghanaians in the electronic field.

This project will make the girls participate "meaningfully in the labour market and make them locally productive and globally competitive," she said.
