YPYC hosts Youth Climate Change Summit in Accra

Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC), Ghana's leading transformational leadership advocate is on April 1, 2022 hosting Ghana`s high-profile climate change stakeholders forum at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The conference dubbed, "The Youth Climate Summit 2022" is YPYC's game-changing effort at engineering innovative solutions to the growing climate change crisis in Ghana and Africa under the theme, "Confronting Our Individual and Collective Roles in Addressing the Climate Change Crisis".

It is aimed at building the knowledge and capacity of students, young Ghanaian leaders, and the youth in general on climate change advocacy and solutions search.

YPYC and its partners such as Climate Investment Funds, USA, British High Commission, Accra, Forestry Commission, Environmental Protection Agency and others believe that every effort to address the effects of climate change must involve the youth who are the future of the Nation and major sufferers of the growing phenomenon.

The youth must be well informed to be able to play effective roles in addressing the challenges in the communities.

The climate change crisis is one of the biggest challenges facing the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

None of the goals is free from its effect, hence, greater commitment towards the attainment of the global goals at the local level must reflect in greater response to climate change and its effects on people and communities.

Governments and international development agencies are doing a lot already but much cannot be achieved without the deployment of the innovative energies of young people.

This is why YPYC is partnering with both local and international development organizations towards this end.

The summit will have speakers such as; MP and Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel A Jinapor; MP and Minister of Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie; British High Commissioners to Ghana, Harriet Thompson; CEO of Climate Investment Funds, Washington, DC, USA, Ms. Mafalda Duarte; Forestry Commission CEO, Mr. John Allotey; Cocobod CEO, Kokofu, ED, EPA and other young speakers to address the gathering. It will be both in-person and virtual.

Young professionals from the corporate; students and young leaders from our tertiary institutions and the youth are invited.
