The CEO of Zoobashop.com Mr. Albert Biga was adjudged E-commerce entrepreneur of the year 2015 by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana.
The event, which was held at the State House on Friday 29th April 2016, saw a number of distinguished entrepreneurs from various business sectors honoured.
The ICT & Business Process Automation expert whose 20 years practice spans from software design, implementation & business process automation was pleased with the accolade conferred on him. His international experience across the sub-region with Intel Corp, Ford Foundation-West Africa, USAID/West Africa Trade Hub, the SOFTtribe among others we believe has helped him create a world-class brand at Zoobashop.
Albert has a BSc in Mathematical Science from the University of Ghana, Legon.
Albert Biga is a successful serial entrepreneur in the technology business eco-system. His passion for creating relevant technology applications is admired by many in the arena. As CEO, he played a pioneering role in the e-commerce industry in 2013, founding Zoobashop.com, Ghana’s Premier Online Retail Store. History has taught us repeatedly; great leaders venture where everyone else has either completely ruled out or been to cautious to explore. Ghana’s nascent ecommerce industry, prior to Zoobashop’s launch had a number of market enablers who provided virtual platforms for buyers and sellers to interact. While the platforms and by extension the products displayed where online, the actual transaction was done the conventional way. Buyers and sellers alike, had to physically move their moneys and wares to an agreed location to conduct business. Albert Biga, who had been following with keen interest, Ghana’s ecommerce terrain, believed an online store with a large variety of products that could be paid for online, and delivered safely to a given address, would thrive. He got four other young people who shared this vision, and assiduously starting putting Zoobashop.com together.
Ghana’s first online retail store launched with some 15 employees and saw very little traffic in the company’s first couple of months. No company Albert Biga had started in the past ever failed, and Zoobashop.com was certainly not going to be the first, not under his watch. He got his team to remain focus and ensure they played their parts in ensuring every shoppers experience was truly awesome. In good time, as hard work always does, their efforts begun paying off.
Zoobashop.com’s awesome shopping experience was soon, the talk of the town. It was amazing enough that there was a fully blown online store in Ghana, but one that appeared to unconditionally have the customer at heart, got many excited. Millions of visitors and thousands of orders after, Albert Biga and the team at zoobashop continue to blaze the trail in e-commerce in Ghana. So it didn’t surprise many, when Zoobashop.com was adjudged e-Commerce Company of the Year 2014, by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) in August 2015. This award category had only just been created, making Zoobashop.com its first winner.
Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana’s first awards night, brought together to the State, Ghana’s finest and most accomplished entrepreneurs. While the ecommerce entrepreneur of the year award clearly recognizes an individual’s efforts or feats for the year in review, Albert Biga felt it was an award to share with his Zoobashop staff, while thanking the Zoobashopper for their unwavering loyalty to their brand. “I receive this award on behalf of the entire awesome team at zoobashop.com, and we are mindful of the role our clients have played supporting this all Ghanaian team to be the best today”, he said.
Albert is married with 3 children. He loves to travel and watch soccer when he is not creating tech companies.
