The leading private waste management company in the country Zoomlion Ghana Limited has inaugurated a new Board of Directors to steer the affairs of the company in its bid to achieve enviable heights in the waste management and environmental sanitation sector.
The inauguration of the nine-member Board, Chair by the former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Prof. Stephen Adei, took place in Accra on Thursday, March 10, 2011 under the Chairmanship of Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyina, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost International.
Other members of the Board include the current General Manager of the Company, Mrs. Florence Larbi, Mr. Antwi Boasiako, Mad. Abena Bonsu, Ing. Nathaniel Armah, Mr. Baba Issah, Mr. Alhassan Andani, Mr. Kwame Gyan, Prof. Mrs. Esi Awuah and Mrs. Gloria Benneh as its Secretary.
Inducting the members of the new Board into office, a Justice of the High Court, Mrs. Elizabeth Ankumah exhorted these highly distinguished personalities to repay and fulfill the faith and confidence reposed in them by executing their duties with diligence, impartiality, propriety and above all, high sense of responsibility and commitment.
Justice Ankumah further entreated the Board to endeavour to put pragmatic policies and procedures in place to enable the company to achieve its vision of championing the cause of clean and environmentally-healthy communities in Ghana and throughout Africa by the year 2015.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Mr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong also called on the new Board to respond swiftly and proficiently to the duty to which they have been called into. He admonished them to put their wealth of experience in their various fields of expertise at the disposal of the company to help Zoomlion grow to become the leading fully-integrated waste management company in the whole of Africa.
On his part, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyina reminded the members of the new Board of the enormity of the task ahead of them as service to the company is a service to the entire nation.
Basing his admonition on the success story of Moses in the Holy Bible, Dr. Onyina pointed out that the success of every good leader to a large degree depends on the commitment, unwavering support and industriousness of his lieutenants and therefore called on the board to give such support to the CEO and his management if the company is to achieve greater heights.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the new board, Prof. Stephen Adei, on behalf of his colleague board members, thanked the Chief Executive Officer and the management of the company for reposing so much confidence in them by bestowing on them such a dignified but arduous responsibility.
