A total of one thousand youth have graduated in the Northern region after undergoing a six-month intensive training in ICT, Mobile phone and Laptop repairs.
The graduands are beneficiaries of the ICT Module under the erstwhile National Youth Employment programme now known as the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA).
They training were offered by the RLG Institute of technology, a subsidiary of RLG Communications.
The trainees were drawn from Yendi, Salaga, Damango, Gambaga and Tamale metropolitan zones of GYEEDA.
Addressing a graduation ceremony in Tamale, Deputy Northern Regional Minister, San Nasamu Asibigi said the initiative will help reduce youth unemployment in the Region.
He commended the GYEEDA and RLG for “empowering the youth to face the future economically”.
The Paramount Chief of Tamale, Dapkema Naa Mohamadu Dawuni who chaired the function advised beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by putting knowledge and skills acquired to good use, saying that was the only way to make an impact.
The Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Alhaji Abdulai Haruna Friday in a speech read for him said the assembly was working hard to ensure more young and unemployed youth are enrolled on the programme.
The Head of the RLG Institute of Technology, Isaac Appiah and the Northern Regional Director of GYEEDA, Adam Mohammed Amin reiterated the desire of their respective institutions to expand to absorb more numbers.
The graduands were given certificates and set of tool kits.
