The Police in the Eastern region have arrested 15 Fulani herdsmen suspected of killing three residents in a small town near Kwahu Abetifi.
The combined police and military raid on the nomads saw a number of cattle being killed as a result.
According to the Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Gyamena Yeboah, the arrested Fulani’s would be screened to fish out the culprits.
He added that the nomads tormented residents in the area destroying their farms and being aggressive to the residents when they reacted over their loss.
The police commander noted that the nomads who are normally armed, escape into the bush when police are sent to arrest them. He said it took the assistance of the military personnel to apprehend the nomads.
The Eastern regional Minister, Victor Smith speaking to Joy FM the actions of the herdsmen will not be tolerated especially when they have illegally entered the country.
Victor Smith further assured the residents of the town which was deserted after the mayhem from the Fulanis that everything has been done to return life to normalcy in the area.
