Toll booth attendants have raised safety concerns after surviving a fatal accident on Sunday at Beposo in the Shama District of the Western Region.
An articulated truck rammed into the toll booth, killing the driver of the truck and a booth attendant.
A survivor, who doctors say sustained serious injuries and fractures, has since been admitted to the Gapoha Hospital in Takoradi.
Joy News’ Western Regional Correspondent, Kwaku Owusu Peprah, who visited the area on Monday, said there are plans in place to relocate the booth.
The toll collection point, sited 200m away from the Pra River, is said to be at the base of an ascent at the top of which sits a bridge.
Sources say the collection point's position puts it at risk of being crashed into by speeding vehicles with failed brakes.
In this instance, the 40-foot articulated truck ran into the booth after the driver reportedly lost control of his steering.
Roads and Highways Minister, Joe Gidisu, accompanied Regional Ministers to visit the scene of the accident on Monday morning.
The officials plan on erecting toll booths and crash barriers in front of the booths to protect the toll collectors, Kwaku Owusu Peprah reported.
