Two men have reportedly been wounded after the police fired warning shots to dispel a crowd at the Damongo police in the West Gonja municipality of the Savannah Region.
According to Joy News' Isaac Nonya, there was blood oozing from the chest of one of the victims and the left shoulder of the other.
Eyewitnesses told the reporter that the victims fell to the ground moments after the combined military and police officers fired warning shots in an attempt to dispel the crowd.
They were then rushed to Tamale in the Northern Region for medical attention.
Joy News checks at the Police station revealed that the victims were among several residents who had gathered at the police station to demand the release of seven other colleagues.
Their colleagues were arrested earlier Monday from Buipe in the Central Gonja district for their alleged involvement in some disturbances leading to the burning of some houses.
Meanwhile, the 155 armoured Regiment of the Ghana armed forces has taken over Damongo police stations in order to protect lives and properties.
