The 2023 African Games awareness tour by the Local Organising Committee (LOC) made a stop in the Western Region, after a successful event in Accra.
The LOC on Monday, December 25, 2023, joined thousands of Christmas revelers in Takoradi for the 2023 Christmas Carnival, as they marched through town with flyers, and banners of the competition which is expected to attract over 50 African countries.
Led by Tumus Masqueraders, the float was through some principal streets in Takoradi before converging at the Market Circle amidst music and dance.
Chairman of the LOC, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, described the tour as a success, noting that the Christmas Carnival was part of their plans to create awareness and interest in the African Games.
Dr Ofosu-Asare and his committee have promised to organise the best-ever Games, and they are working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other entities to make the event a memorable one.
The games will start on 8th March 2024
