A 22-year-old boy has died in a motorbike accident at the Lower Volta Bridge in Sogakope in the Volta Region.
Four others, including a year old baby boy, all of whom were on two separate motorbikes are battling for their lives at the COMBONI Hospital.
Eyewitnesses say the two motorbikes collided head-on Thursday evening.
In an attempt to swerve a pothole on the bridge one of the motorbikes which was traveling from Sogakope to Sokpoe collided with the other from the opposite direction.
The injured, including the baby who was strapped at the back of his mother on board the motor, were rushed to the hospital by the Sogakope Police.
The deceased identified as Bestway passed on an hour and a half later, after suffering a fractured skull.
The body has since been deposited at the COMBONI Hospital morgue, with the four others receiving treatment at the hospital.
Family and residents of the area in an interview with joy news pleaded with the government to quickly fix the bridge to avoid further deaths on the bridge.
One of the injured persons also suffered a fractured leg.
