On Sunday, 6, March, Ghana turns 59.
A parade marks the event at the Independence Square in Accra constructed in 1961.The iconic square was commissioned by Kwame Nkrumah to honour the visit of Queen Elizabeth II and it was named "Black Star Square".
Today, it honours the visit of ordinary Ghanaians who are called to reflect on their freedom from colonial rule.
Perched very high on one of the arcs, two painters deepen the national colours - red, gold, green.
The place is being prepared for the National Parade this Sunday.
An overhead camera being installed.
There will be a predictable show of motor-riding skills from the security services.
The kids - yes - the kids will brace the sun on Sunday, an endurance test as the nation endures harsh economic times.
The Independence Square is a 30,000-seater capacity
