Ghana’s ever fresh Hiplife trio, 4x4, is set to launch their 5th studio album with a free street concert on Accra’s infamous Osu Oxford Street on Friday, December 9.
Titled Waist and Power (WaP) after the album’s first single of the same name, the album when released is expect to attract positive attention from music audiences worldwide.
WaP has already spawned 3 chart toping singles namely Waist and Power the title track, Womaniser and Yesii Yesii, the current dance floor banger.
This is coming at the back of their recent win of the Best Group Music Video Award at the 2011 4syte TV Music Video Awards.
Group leader Captain Planet, disclosed in an interview that, “The Osu Oxford street choice as venue will not only help bring us closer to our fans, but will afford us the opportunity to connect and give them an early Christmas gift.”
The WaP album has got 12 tracks, all written and composed 4x4 and being released under their own X4 Records label.
Coded, a member of the group, explained that, “The Waist and Power album is a tribute to the African man from an African woman. It celebrates the strengths, work and deeds of true black men who show love, care and kindness to their women.”
The album launch is expected to be a massive funfair that will feature an exciting supporting line-up including, VIP, Buk Bak, Castro, Tinny, 5five, Ruff-n-Smooth, Asem, Stay Jay, Trigmatic, Jupiter, EL, J Town, Keche, Chemphe, Eduwodzi, Pope Skinny, Diamond, Mzbel, D-Cryme, D-Black, D-Money, Saint Riya and Samini.
This launch is a prelude to their 2012 Ghana tour to be followed by African tour.
