64 suspected criminals have been arrested in a joint military and police operation on Thursday at a slum near Nana Bosomah market, a suburb of Sunyani Municipality, Christian Ofori Kumah, Adom Bono region correspondent reported.
Addressing the press after the operation, Bono Regional Crime Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Supt Nana Kwaku Duah said: “we don’t want to take things for granted hence our decision to organise the operation to rid the area of miscreants.”
According to him, the operation was a preventive measure to ensure that “what has been happening in other regions do not happen here.”
Supt Kwaku Duah called for support from the general public to enable the police to identify and arrest suspected criminals for prosecution.
600 soldiers, police swoop on criminals at Budumburam
In a related development, a combined team of Military and police personnel descended on Gomoa Budumburam on Thursday in an operation aimed at riding the area of criminals.
The team comprising about 400 military officers and 200 police officers, swooped down on the Central Region in the Gomoa East District, which has gained notoriety for violent crimes in recent times.
More than 100 suspected criminals were arrested in the joint operation, Adom News correspondent, Kofi Adjei reported.
