Tigo Ghana is offering soccer fans an opportunity to share in Africa’s passion in a promotion dubbed ‘Tigo AFCON TRIVIA Promo’.
The five-week subscription-based promo is designed to reward all customers and football enthusiasts, and encourage subscribers to watch every match of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in South Africa.
A statement from Tigo said “subscribers are required to send the key word AFCON to 6060 and start answering the trivia questions on past and current AFCON tournaments.
The statement said correct answers would accumulate points to for the player to stand a chance of winning in the daily and weekly draws.
“Subscribers with most correct answers will win amazing prizes weekly,” it said. “The top weekly prize is winner will get GHC1,000, and first runner up will get GHC500,”
The statement said there are prizes for the prediction of Ghana’s matches, as well as the semi-finals and finals of the tournament.
It said the highest correct predictor of all Ghana games, semi-finals games and the final game will all win a Blackberry handset each.
“In the course of the promotion, there will be one special Wednesday where the highest texter for that special day will win an LCD TV. The top five texters for every Saturday and Sunday will also win customized Black Star Jersey,” it said.
Head of Marketing at Tigo, Tenu Awoonor was quited as saying “as the proud sponsor of Africa’s passion and a brand that truly shares in the passion of its loyal customers, we deem it our responsibility not to only educate them on the facts and history of the AFCON tournament but also give them an opportunity to share in the fun and win fantastic prizes.”
He urged customers to text their predictions and answers to 6060 as many times as they want to increase their chances of winning, adding that each SMS costs Ghp15.
“Tigo also takes this opportunity to wish our gallant stars the best of luck,” he said.
