The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) has unveiled its anniversary logo in Accra to commence the Bank’s 60th anniversary celebration scheduled from April to June 2013.
The Diamond jubilee anniversary has the theme ‘’GCB-60 Years of Service of Ghana - Customers, Businesses and Community.’’
Unveiling the logo, Mr. Simon Dornoo, Managing Director of the Bank said GCB was established in 1953 to take care of indigenous Ghanaian businesses as they could not access the necessary credit facilities they needed from the two expatriate banks at the time.
Mr. Dornoo added that 60 years on, GCB had not only offered banking services to the nation but also broadened its scope of operation from small businesses to large corporate entities, with 158 branches throughout the country.
Mr. Dornoo said “GCB’s anniversary comes at a time when Ghana has discovered oil", adding that the GCB in its 60th year was well-resourced and well -positioned to drive the new Ghanaian economy with the oil industry playing a major role.
He said as part of the celebration, GCB would outdoor a new ultra-modern retail branch designed to fit the refurbished GCB brand.
He said other activities lined up for the anniversary include round table discussion among representatives of financial institutions in Ghana, special corpote social services to communities and the presentation on the re-branded GCB.
