Ghanaian striker Kevin-Prince Boateng has confirmed his shock transfer to Barcelona from Sassuolo.
"Barca, I’m coming!" Boateng told Sky Sports. “I’m sad to leave Sassuolo but is a great chance.”
The 31-year-old also downplayed previous comments made about Barcelona’s fierce rivals Real Madrid.
In a 2017 interview, Boateng answered he preferred Real Madrid to Barcelona.
However, Boateng says his focus is on his new club and hopes to find the net against Real Madrid in the Clasico.
"Don’t ask me about Real Madrid... is just the past! I only want to focus on Barcelona and I hope to score at Bernabéu for the next Clásico”
According to reports, the transfer includes an €8 million (£7m/$9m) option to buy, while Barcelona will pay a €2m loan fee for Boateng to feature for them in the remainder of the season.
Boateng only joined Sassuolo in the summer and has scored four goals in 13 Serie A outings, recently playing in a more advanced role.
His previous spell in La Liga was a successful one, Boateng scoring 10 goals in 28 appearances for Las Palmas in 2016-17 before leaving for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Boateng has also played for Hertha Berlin, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, Tottenham, Portsmouth and Milan.
