Baby Jet promotions has announced an eight-bout package scheduled to take place at the Lebanon House in Accra on Friday the 26th of April, 2013 with tough talking Emmanuel Tagoe set to take on Filipino Robald Pontillas for the WBA International/WBO Africa Super Featherweight Championship over 12 Rounds.
The event which was launched at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium drew a large number of media personnel and was also graced by Ghana Boxing Authority President Lawyer Peter Zwenness, former Vice President Ahene Truly and former National Football star Baffour Gyan who doubles as the Vice President of Baby Jet Promotions.
The tough talking Tagoe promised to break the jinx by knocking down his opponent, having been criticized by fans for taking his opponents through the full distance on many occasions.
For him, he is already looking beyond the bout with Pontillas as he has ambitions to become the next Super Feather Weight Champion of the World.
Interlacing his comments with the local Ga Language, he was confident of putting on a show worthy of a boxer of his calibre.
“I know how good I am in the ring and this opportunity serves as a good platform for me to exhibit my talent. Ghanaians have not seen me in the ring after I last fought against George Ashie and it will be great if I put in a performance worthy of a champion. I have been training very hard for this bout over the last few weeks and I will definitely defeat my opponent come the 26th of this month.”
Other bouts on the bill include the International Lightweight Championship over eight rounds between George Ashie and Michael Odhiambo from Kenya. Michael Ansah will take on Abraham Osei-Bonsu in the National Super Featherweight Championship while Isaac Quaye will face off against Abmer Shidju of Namibia in a Commonwealth Flyweight final Eliminator.
Ahmed Saraku and Alani Sulaiman would battle it out in an International Middleweight Contest with Felix Williams to fight a yet to be announced opponent.
Osumanu Akaba and Prince Dzanie are also set to feature on the bill with organizers set to spice the event with performances from the Nation’s top musical artistes.
Tickets which are yet to be released would be going for GHC 10.00 for the popular stand, GHC 30.00 for ringside and a yet to be decided amount for the VVIP.
